Hello Unstopables and welcome to the unstoppable mind podcast. I'm your host, Mary Lou Rodriguez. And on this episode, we are going to talk about kids and hypnosis. So when I was practicing and seeing clients full time, I worked quite a bit with children. And I would get asked all the time, Mary Lou, what's your biggest tip, and I want to share that with you today. So stay tuned. Hello, unstoppables welcome today to today's podcast episode where we are going to be talking about hypnosis and kids. Now, I love working with children for so many reasons. And one of them is that you can help them overcome such big challenges at such a young age. And truly you can change the trajectory of their life. And working with kids, I mean, some of my best memories, honestly. It's because it's so fun. And it's so easy. And it's because they are so fun. And they're totally open. Their imagination is just ready to like rock and roll. And the results that can happen as as these children begin to progress and change. The results are absolutely incredible. I've been blown away time and time again, by the changes that can be made in children's lives. I remember one of my first clients, she was 10 years old. And I was seeing her I saw her in person in my Beaverton office at the time when I was seeing clients in person. And I remember her mom, like when we were done with the five sessions, her mom sent me a message. And I wish I would have kept that email that she sent me. Although I do think that her one of her she did leave me a review on Google. And it was at that time when I when I was using Google. And it was a really profound, profound testimonial to the changes that have happened in our daughter's life. It's such an honor to work with children, it's so much fun, because they're all in, they enjoy the experience of hypnosis. They don't have all of the issues and the constraints around it. Their minds are just completely open with no limitations. They're not over analyzing, and they can go into trance very, very easily. You know, don't want the word trance scare you because we you and I and everyone go into trance all in and out of trance all day long. And trance is a state of hypnosis. And what I mean by that is you can and hypnosis is focused awareness. So that's what happens when you're in hypnosis, you have this focused awareness. And all day long, like through social media, when you're scrolling on Facebook, when you're scrolling on Instagram when you're scrolling on YouTube, or when you're listening to the news. Anytime you begin to have focused awareness and you start to lose track of time, and you start to lose track of what's happening around you. You are in hypnosis, my friends. And so what I want to say though, about kids, and kids being in hypnosis, I mean from the ages of zero to seven, so from the time that they're in utero till about the age of seven years old. Everything that they see everything that they experience, everything that they hear, smell, taste, they absorb, they just take it in like a sponge. And that's because they are in theta brainwave state, which is hypnosis and their conscious analytical mind is not formed yet. Therefore, they don't over analyze. They don't question what you tell them because they don't have the ability to do so. So everything is going in like a program and everything gets programmed into their subconscious. So whatever they see, whatever they hear, whatever they were told, whatever they are exposed to, how they're raised. What is modeled to them, is going into their brains unedited. from the ages of zero to seven, so they model us, they watch us, they listen to us. And that becomes their map of the world. So I've shared this in my workshops that I've done, where I worked with a little 10 year old by the name of Susana, and Susana had severe anxiety. And Susanna had heard that her parents were having a conversation at one point. And she overheard her dad say, she gets the anxiety from me. So when I asked her, Why she felt the way that she felt, she said, Oh, my dad gave it to me. My, my dad gave it to me. So Susana, had a fear of everything. She had a fear of dogs, anything medically related, any kind of doctor appointment or dentist appointment, she was afraid of bugs. And these, she was afraid of taking tests at school. She felt dumb. She was afraid to fall asleep by herself at night. She was afraid to try anything new. And so she would say to me, Mary Lou, I just want to be normal. I just want to be like the other kids. Now, I will say that Susana, bless her heart. She was one of my favorite clients. I felt so connected to her little spirit. She was easy to hypnotize. And that's because their brains are so malleable. They're their brains are plastic. And so hypnosis is fantastic for helping them with confidence, and to help them feel calm, and empowered, and strong. So with Susana, I had three sessions with her. And they were truly magical. They were fun for me, I had so much fun planning her sessions, and her life changed. Her mom will send me pictures of her swimming in the lake, which is something she would have never done before. She sent me a picture of her on her first day of school. And Susana had the biggest smile on her face. And most recently, her mom sent me a picture or a text excuse me on Christmas Eve. And she said, I know that you will appreciate this. On the eve of Christmas, Susana got so excited in her brain and her lips were going a mile a minute. And she got into bed and her little sister Sarah, almost nine said calm your body. And Susana said, Yes, I'm just so excited. I'm going to put my hypnosis audio on. And her little sister said yes, and pick the longest one. And mom said, I agree. Let's calm our bodies and our minds and listen to Mary Lou. So Mary Lou, my two girls are upstairs listening to your audio, as they do almost every night. And I received a birthday message from Susana recently, and she was singing to me. i It's just so so special. I've worked with a lot of people, helping them with their minds, really feel like they can just accomplish anything, accomplish many, many things have their outcomes that they want in their life, live that amazing life that they know is available to them. So I've helped a lot of people really change and and get unstuck. And as hypnotherapist we change the trajectory of people's lives of what becomes possible. And what I did with Susana was that I helped her feel safe in the world. And to be honest, that's what I do with adults as well. We want our children to grow up with a solid understanding of their value. Now I don't have children. I'm an aunt, and I'm a mama to Zoey pebbles, who's a pitbull that I love dearly. You don't have children in this lifetime. But I do know that as parents, you want your children to grow up with this understanding of their value, that they are a valuable person just because they were born that way and that they matter. They don't have to do anything. They don't have to have a certain title or a certain size house or drive us certain kind of vehicle, they don't have to wear something specific to have value, they have value, because they exist. And what happens is that our world tells us differently, especially with social media, because we're told how we're supposed to look how we're supposed to act. And that can chip away at self worth. And so then what happens is that there's a steam, their self esteem begins to become affected. They believe that maybe they're not as good as other people, they start to have anxiety, they start to lose interest, and I'm talking specifically about children and adults. But they start to lose interest in learning, and going to school, and then developing these self defeating behaviors. You know, and it can be showing up as anxiety, it could be showing up as, as sucking thumbs, it could be showing up as biting nails. So a big shout out to all of you parents, because I believe that it's one of the toughest, toughest jobs in the world, raising another human being. And so with hypnosis, I, it's just really incredible. Again, the transformation that can happen. And yes, parents asked me, What is the biggest tip like, what can we do besides listening to hypnosis audios, because when I meet with a client, before we do hypnosis, we have like a talking session, where I'm finding out exactly what it is that they want to work on. And then we do the hypnosis session, which is recorded. So they get a recorded hypnosis session. And I just call it a, an audio, Zoom audio, essentially, because it's done via zoom via zoom. But parents would ask me, What's your biggest tip. And so I want to share something with you that you can do by yourself, and you can do at home, you don't have to be a hypnotist to do this. And it's very simple and very effective. So what you're going to want to do is that when your child goes to sleep at night, and you tuck them in, and you say good night, you're gonna want to come back about 20 minutes later, 15 to 20 minutes later, they will be in a light sleep. And what you'll do is you'll just go into their room, and sit next to them. And you are going to give them one of the greatest gifts that you can give them. Okay? You want to give them new beliefs, a new belief in themselves. So what you can say is, excuse me, you are lovable, you are safe. And then if it's appropriate, and it's not always appropriate, but if it's appropriate, appropriate, you can say, Mom and Dad are so proud to have you, in our family. You are lovable, you are safe. Mom and Dad are so proud to have you in our family. You are lovable, you are safe. Mom and Dad are so proud to have you in our family. Now you're going to repeat this five times. And then where you're going to do is you're going to repeat it again. But you're going to add your child's name. And what you're going to say is this Jane is lovable. Jane is safe. And Jane is proud of herself. So we're teaching our little ones how to internalize success and love and belonging and safety. So Jane is lovable. Jane is safe. And Jane is proud of herself. You're gonna want to repeat that five times. You're gonna want to say it softly but out loud. You want to make sure that it's audible but that it's soft. And their subconscious mind is just going to take it in, it's just going to absorb those new beliefs and it will become the foundation of, of of their life. And so you want to make sure that the first time you say it around you say it with you are and then you want to repeat it with their name. Okay, so it's really important that you say Jane is and what's going to happen is that you are going to notice the changes and just really like, take the time to congratulate yourself for making this commitment and doing this work with your child. And then don't stop doing it. Keep doing it. So I'm gonna give you some guidelines because I know you're probably wondering, okay, okay, Mary Lou, I need more. So, excuse me, this is a tool to work with kids in their subconscious mind. And when should you start using it? I say start today start as early as possible. And it can be continued up to the age of 12. So how long should we practice these new beliefs for at least three months. And what I want to say is that you can have up to five new beliefs. Okay, so I've given you three, and they address safety, belonging, and worth. So, excuse me. Sorry about that, everyone. So you are going to want to have up to five new beliefs. Now three new beliefs is fine, no more than five. And you're going to want to repeat each belief at least five times. So when should you do it? 15 To 20 minutes after your child has fallen asleep? And what should you say? Because I know I've given you three beliefs. But I know that your question is how do I create a belief and you're going to want to use positive words, and affirmations. So again, with the beliefs that I've given you they address, safety, belonging, and worth. And then you can add two more in here are some examples of positive beliefs. Jane enjoys everyone's company, Jane is peaceful, and gets along well with others. Jane loves to go to school. Jane enjoys school. Jane has good friends at school. Jane gets along with her teachers at school. So three beliefs I've given you and you can add two more depending on what your child is going through. Now, these beliefs can be changed after three months, but you're going to want to pick up to five and you're going to want to be consistent. And this can be good for potty training, for school confidence, for increased concentration to get along with other people. And then other issues that are related to children up to the age of 12. So I know that this is a commitment. And what you can also do if you didn't want to go in and sit down and say these new beliefs every night, you could record them on your phone, you would still need to go into the room and sit down by your child and play this recording. But a recording might be a little bit easier for you. Alright, everyone, I hope that you found this tip to be very valuable.
